exam statistics
Thursday, October 12

well the exams are finally over! (: so here's my compilation of how i felt about the papers. if ur find the first part too boring, at least scroll down to the next part. theres info which not everybody will know.

total papers: 10
easy papers: 2
moderate papers: 6
hard papers: 2
incomplete papers: 3

thu
larts a
this paper was easy. i did the prose, cos the answers were like staring right at me, and i fully appreciated the prose. turns out that there was a very equal split between the pupils who did prose and poetry.

geog
this paper was HARD!!! why? because the questions were mostly facts, facts and facts. i had expected it to be a applicational paper, so i didnt memorise those facts :S

fri
larts b
this paper was moderate i'd say. it was hard because of the event we were supposed to write about, i couldnt remember it very clearly, and was easy because writing a newpaper report IS rather easy isnt it?

life science
this paper was moderate... there were some tough questions here and there, but overall, was better than last year's paper.

mon
hcl paper 1
this paper was moderate. i found the letter writing very easy, but the compo was harder. i did question 1 and 5 incase you're wondering.

math
this was a hard paper. not because the questions were exactly hard... i mean those were kinda moderate. but the factor that made it hard was that there were too many questions and too little time!

tue
history
this paper was moderate... questions were rather straightforward. just that i forgot some stuff here and there XD also, it was hard picking out certain points for the sbq

physical science
this paper was moderate too. the questions were moderate, but the amount of time could have been slightly more though.

hcl listening compre
this was EASY. very easy. the questions were extremely straightforward and you just needed to listen to get it correct.

wed
hcl paper 2
this paper was moderate. the multiple choice questions were closer to the easy side, but the open ended qns were closer to the hard side. i also wasnt able to finish it ): just like 1 question. and i crapped some of the answers.

now here's the interesting part of the post.

end-of-year exams awards: category - answers and mistakes
my most obvious mistake: Package B is more worth it than A. (my calculation was right, but i absent-mindedly took the higher value of money to be more worth it)
my most careless mistake: Drawing a quadilateral instead of a trapezium.
my most stupid answer: Fruit Juice (answer to question: What is the raw material used to make vinegar?)
my answer with poorest handwriting: geog paper last structured question. i was scribbling too fast.

end-of-year exams awards: category - memorable events
most ironic situation:
chinese teacher walks in and asks in english: any questions?
mr kevin ng, our invigilator, immediately asks us in chinese: you mei you wen ti?
most hilarious situation:
brian finished his chinese paper way before time and started stoning. mrs vijay takes over mr kevin ng as invigilator and starts walking around. at brian's table, she sees him doing nothing. she points at the marks box and tells brian, "you havent filled these in yet."

end-of-year exams awards: category: invigilators
best invigilator: ms jean lua and mrs annie panthradil. know their stuff. know the proper proceedre
worst invigilator: 1.14 class teacher (not ms sheela). see 'least kind invigilator'
most hilarious invigilator: mr kevin ng. speaking in chinese for the chinese paper.
most kind invigilator: mr kevin ng. letting us look at the chinese paper before time started.
least kind invigilator: 1.14 class teacher (not ms sheela). gave us 40 seconds less time.
